Blogging is Tough.

I'm kinda breaking the fourth wall in a way in this post. Or maybe I'm not.. That's just the first thing that popped into my head when I thought about this topic. That being said, I don't know if this topic is going to fill up the entirety of this post, so I might jump around a little bit. Hang on tight.

Remember, if not optimist, then realist. Never pessimist.

As the title makes pretty clear, having a blog, and writing on it, is a tough thing to do. A lot of times, you just want to put what's on your mind out there. What's behind your face and above your throat so to speak. You write and you write and you keep writing, and at times you run out of things to write about, so you blame your schedule until you can find something else to write about again. You try different routes to try and attract more people, and sometimes it works, but mostly it does not, and in the end it ends up being more than you can keep up with. Mostly. It ends up in the same category as western movies. Nobody cares anymore except for the most faithful. The most devoted. It becomes the past.

You basically feel like Marshall in the Walk On Water music video.

Another part of the difficulty lies in what you write about. You transcribe onto the blank white page all of your thoughts on whatever your chosen topic is. You try and cover all of the topic, incorporating humor, drama, and things that people actually want to hear about, for most of the time, it's not the topic that they want to hear about. They want to hear that everything is going well, that you're happy, that you're going off to college, that you and your girlfriend are getting serious, that you landed a full-time office job at some company that nobody cares about. They want you to convey all of that in as little time as possible too, because Lord knows that the next level of Candy Crush Soda Saga is waiting for them, and they didn't get all the way up to level 474 just to stop there. No sir.

They want to make you think they care while putting in the least amount of effort possible.

Sure, if you ask them nicely, and lower the prices of merchandise to a negative income rate, and even ship it to them out of your own wallet, they'll consider buying a shirt with your name on it. When you ask, they'll say that they wear it all the time... that it's the most comfortable thing they've worn in a long time.. that it was a good investment of their money.. and yet the views wane. You take the buyers in good faith and allow them to pay you later, yet they don't, no matter how you remind them, or how often.

It's really a depressing occupation to have and be a part of sometimes. It's not over yet though.

You encourage people to give you ideas for things to talk about, but nothing. You invite guest bloggers to write, but not one responds. You bring up being registered to the mailing list, but that stops as well. You want to stop doing it sometimes, but you've already come so far down this path, it's not worth giving up.

You know in the corny teen movies where the record scratches and the frame freezes and they're like "Yup, that's me. I'll bet you're wondering how I got myself into this situation". That is what having a blog is like.

But it gets better. A little at least. There's always the one or two people that low-key really appreciate it each time. I do it for them. Each post goes out to that one person, whomever it ends up being. If you're reading this, and can relate, hit me up, lets talk about it. For the writer of the posts, there're more cons than pros. For one or two of the readers, its only pros, and that's why I do it.

On from that depressing section. Not that this section is going to be any happier. This section will be a lot shorter though. I'm just going to leave you with this thought. It's a lyric from a song, and it goes like this.

"And I will say that we should take a day to break away from all the pain our brain has made, the game is not played alone. And I will say that we should take a moment and hold it and keep it frozen and know that life has a hopeful undertone"

Keep that in mind as you go through this next part of your life. Do what you want, go down whatever path you want, don't hurt yourself, and remember that quote. And consider reading my blog every once in a while. You might get something out of it.
