Open Your Gosh Darn Mind

Now, you may have already guessed because of the last blog post but, this is not Dominic. This is actually his much much more legit-er sister, Francesca. I am finally giving the people what they want: A look into the mind of Raisin Fran. That being said, this will be a ever so slightly serious post. However, I have some regular business to take care of first.

First item on the agenda: I will not be attending GLAA. Now, I know what you're thinking... "What the heck, Fran? You've thrown us all for a gosh darn loop. For three years you've been telling us that you'll go next year. What could have happened?"

And I'll tell you this, there's a lil tiny dude named Delwin who you could have a little chit chat about that with. If you're really actually concerned.

Second item: Yes. I cut most of my hair off. Why? Because society is stupid, my beauty does not equate to the length of my hair, and I wanted to donate it.

That's all.

There's no way for me to provide you with proof of this but believe me when I tell you that I just practically wrote a whole blog post and then erased because I didn't like it. I'm just gonna wing it now and see what happens.

I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It's a very...unique...place. I know there's a lot of people who enjoy living here, and that's great. Good for them. I'm proud of them for doing what makes them happy. Go you.

The UP is not an enjoyable place for me. Don't get me wrong there are a few things that I enjoy, like...uh...snow is fun. Sometimes. It's just that there is a lot of closed-mindedness going on up here. I know that that happens most everywhere but it's like, there's no appreciation of culture and current events. Time moves a little slower here.

Here's a really good example. Wilson Junior Academy. What a gem. I appreciate them and my years there. But just to clarify what I mean when I say that nobody here knows what's going on in the rest of the world; I once had a fellow student ask me who Michael Jordan was. The same thing happened with Michael Jackson on a similar occasion.

I'll give you a few seconds to mourn.

I'd like to clarify before hand that I regret every decision in my life that led to me buying and wearing knock-off Yeezys. However, it is a part of my life now. I've accepted that. Anyway, one day I wore said knock-off Yeezys to WJA and the entire classroom started hardcore putting me down for, I don't know, liking sneakers. I'm not exaggerating, I know this sounds wild, but they were literally telling me it was "worthless knowledge".

Disclaimer: (If you are a WJA student reading this and you were in the 9th-10th grade classroom my freshman year, yeah, that paragraph probably was about you)

The point of all of this has been to tell you that if someone is doing something that makes them genuinely happy and they're not hurting anyone, let them live. I'm not against the LGBT+ community. I love love. If you really truly love somebody, go for it. I'm proud of everyone in that organization. They're happy. Go them. It's the people who sit on the outside wasting minutes of their own life just trying to bring them down. With all the mass shootings, major pollution, and corruption of government going on, I think that two dudes finding solitude and happiness in one another should be the least of our concerns.

My point is, every human is different. It's what makes the world go round. We all have different interests, different love stories, different hobbies, different ancestries, different personalities, etc.

Love. People.

Appreciate. People.

Respect. People

Open your mind. It's not that hard. If you see someone wearing something you wouldn't, marrying somebody you wouldn't, listening to something you wouldn't, etc. Take a deep breath in and say, "They're happy. That's super awesome. I'm proud." And move on. Diversity and individuality are what make living on this earth enjoyable. Just let people do what makes them happy (as long as they aren't hurting anything or anyone) and you can do what makes you happy and we'll all be just fine.

That's all.

~ Fran
