Hello and welcome back to another episode of trying to write something worthy for Dominic’s blog. I have been struggling to write this blog for weeks. I’m the type of person that really wants to make people happy. So, the thought of wrIting something that isn’t perfect, makes me nervous. I’m also a nut case, like for real for real. I decided to write about how people view me. I don’t know why; I just want to. So, I am. I recently, in an act of insecurity, asked my friend to rate different things about my personalIty, on a scale of one to ten. I know, how obnoxious. Well, In the end I tallied up my scores and found the average to be a six. I felt really attacked. The thing is, there were parts of my personality that she really liked and others she didn’t. But, that’s okay, I’m a human being, and as a human, I know that we tend to be sooo hard on ourselves. We want so bad to be liked, that we try to make others look less likable. We try to take out the competition. I am a loud, self-conscious, depressed, annoying child. But I am also, kind, empathetic, entertaining, and ambitious. So why do we as people focus so strongly on the negative things about ourselves and each other. We need a break. Sooo here are somethings that I feel like I know about you. You want to be happy, that’s courageous. You care about your friends and family, that’s honorable. You want to protect the innocent, that’s valiant. You have, at some point, forgiven someone that didn’t deserve it, that makes you merciful. You would die to protect someone you care for, that is Loving. You are all these things and sooo much more. There is no one more equipped to live your life, than you. You got it babe. I believe in you. But that isn’t enough. YOU have to believe in you. YOU are the only one at the steering wheel of your life. Think about who you want to be and make choices today to get you there. I love you all. Thanks for listening to my Ted Talk.
This last part is Dominic. I just wanted to kind of reflect on that previous thought for a second.
I understand entirely that the thought of what others think about us is terrifying. I have one of the best scenarios out of the people I know. I’ve done things, and had things done to me, that make me think about others viewpoints on my own life. I get too wrapped up in that sometimes.
Like she brought up like 2 paragraphs ago, you’re the one with the wheel in your life. You decide where you go, who you include in your life, and just about everything else too.
Pull a Tim McGraw and live like you’re dying. Act kindly, make gestures of appreciation to those around you. They’ll be able to tell somethings up..
Steer your life in the right direction by not caring what others think of you, and by not getting overly caught up in what YOU think of you.
