Through the Looking Glass

I would like to take a moment to explain the photo to anybody who doesn't understand...

That's the Mad Hatter (portrayed by Johnny Depp) in the most recent Alice in Wonderland film: Alice Through the Looking Glass.

Now that that's cleared up, this might be a little less weird

So, into our topic. Mirrors, and conveniently, our reflections. I've been doing a lot of thinking about my own. Not the physical one. Basically introspection. For those that don't like big words, it's basically just looking inside yourself, at who you are as a person, etc.

So yeah, I've been doing that for a bit now, just kinda observing myself. Not in a weird like eastern-meditation style though. I'm digging myself a hole...

Regardless of what I've found, I just thought that it would be cool to remind you all that that kind of thing is necessary in your life. You need to have those moments in silence to think about things. About life. About who you are, or where you're headed. In a world full of constant, meaningless, and otherwise worthless distractions, you should set some time aside and just exist. Just sit there and think.

Unpopular opinion, but I'm a huge fan of twenty-one pilots. I originally liked their music for the music, but as time went on, I noticed the lyrics. That determines, for the most part, the music that I like and will listen to now. That's the reason I'd rather listen to "Car Radio" than "Sicko Mode". That's the reason I'd rather listen to literally anything besides country.

Along the same lines as my current topic is the topic of self-image. You hear a lot about loving your body and being body positive and all that. (I'm going to tread lightly for a little bit here) I think that you should, by all means, have a view of yourself that is over the top. Be proud of you.

That being said.

Some people use this whole campaign to their advantage. Yes, people do come in different shapes and sizes, but there's a line, on either side of the scale, that makes it unhealthy. You shouldn't be happy that you can provide shade for the entirety of Daytona Beach. Nor should you be happy that a strong gust can carry you away like a freaking kite. Some people can't help their condition, and I get that, but a large majority of people can.

That line on either side I was talking about earlier, I heard somebody say it perfectly one time. They said: "You shouldn't be starving yourself, nor should you be starving everyone else."

This whole self-image thing covers more than just your stature or weight or whatever else. It covers so much more. I hear so many people, all the time, saying how ugly they are, or how they're life is just a mess, or how they're just a mess, or how they'd "be so much prettier with makeup", or whatever else.

Don't do that to yourself. God never told us what the perfect person looked like, so how should we know how close, or far, we are from it? Think about that for a second.

I know a lot of you think that girls are the only ones that go through this whole self-image thing, but, truth be told, they're not.. I know a lot of guys who are super unhappy with the way they look because of their "pizza-face" or because their arms are toothpicks, or whatever else. I know guys who have made working out the entirety of their identity, just so that they wouldn't have to show the rest of the world what else they were made up of.

That's not a healthy way to live. You should never be afraid to show the world who you are.

Moral of the story: Love yourself. But love yourself enough to know when to cut out the bad, and put the emphasis back on the good.

That's it my dudes. I hope you enjoyed, and I hope you don't get triggered.

Love you all
